Java Developer II
Java Developer II responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Java applications and microservices onsite in Richmond, VA. The role supports high-volume, cloud-native backend services and APIs in an agile environment with product owners and senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Java-based applications and microservices
Build RESTful APIs and backend services for high-volume transactions
Collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and architecture teams
Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design sessions
Optimize performance, scalability, and security of applications
Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems
Follow best practices for clean code, testing, and documentation
Qualifications:
5+ years of Java development experience
Strong experience with Java 8+, Spring Boot, and Spring Framework
Experience building REST APIs and microservices
Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL)
Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work onsite in Richmond, VA full-time
Preferred Skills:
Experience with AWS or Azure cloud services
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized deployments
Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems
Exposure to React or Angular
Financial services or regulated industry experience
Experience with automated testing (JUnit, Mockito)
